70:20:10 and the Performance Mindset with Charles Jennings

Charles is co-founder of the 70:20:10 Institute, a partner of the Internet Time Alliance, and former CLO of Thomson Reuters. His is recognised as one of the world’s leading experts on building and implementing learning and organisational performance strategies.

Charles has led learning and performance improvement projects for multinational corporations, government agencies, not-for-profits, and other organisations for almost 40 years. He has worked with the 70:20:10 reference model for almost 20 years. This performance-centric approach is based on observations and, increasingly, on research that suggests high performing individuals and organisations develop most of their capability through learning within the workflow. In other words, learning from working rather than learning to work.

In this interview, Charles and I talk about what his childhood growing up on a sheep farm in the Australian Outback taught him about learning, how to transcend the ‘schooling’ mindset and focus on performance, and his advice for the rest of us working in L&D in these changing times.
